Turned up at Posh to find Jon Harmer and one other blatting around. It looked really nice. A quick chat with Jon determined that a 5.7 was fine, but should be able to go 5m - it looked windy enough to me. On hitting the water, a 4.5 would have been ok. Had a furious half hour on max power until I came in to tweak the sail. All the extra power helped me with my first ever planing tack on small kit - really chuffed with that, but couldn't get it right with the next 10 I tried. Part of the reason I got it the first time is that I wasn't really planning it, so I didn't think about it too much. Does make you wonder whether there's too much analysis of moves. Still, I now want to know why the rig slices forward every time (with me falling in) after I grab to boom on the new side.
I was wearing a big flowery skirt when it came to loops though - why the f*ck can't I even try them? I'm quite happy throwing myself round a deliberate catapult (which I did lots of yesterday), but I completely freeze when it comes to loops. This was really rubbed in, because the only others out were Steve, Carl and Mike and they seemed to throwing loops everywhere.
Looping aside, it was a great session from stolen office hours. There were a few waves to catch, some shorebreak to ride, a new move (learnt or lucked out) and the usual smiling company. I love this sport.
